It's time for more Staff Spotlight! Did you know that the Children's Theatre has a full costume shop right in this building? If not, I would like to introduce you to Anna Klinger, Costume Shop Manager.
🎭 Role: I am the Costume Shop Manager for Children's Theatre of Charlotte. I manage the building and purchasing of all of the magical costumes seen on our stages.
📚 Favorite Book: "Memoirs of a Geisha" and in Children's literature, anything by RL Stine
🎬 If I could bring any book to life on the stage what would it be: Phillip Pullman's "His Dark Materials"
💙 Favorite Part of the Job: I love creating costumes that really help the actors bring characters to life. There is also nothing better than seeing a show with kids who've never experienced live theatre. The energy is palpable.
Whether they're helping patrons discover their next favorite book, supporting performances, or creating memorable experiences for our community, Anna plays an important role in making our building a place where creativity, learning, and connection thrive.

This week, we're excited to introduce Becca Worthington, one of the dedicated team members who helps bring stories to life—both on our shelves and on our stage.
🎭 Role: Children's Librarian
📚 Favorite Book: for kids, The Adventures of Beekle: The Unimaginary Friend by Dan Santat; for adults, The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin; for audio, The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern read by Jim Dale
🎬 If I could bring any book to life on the stage what would it be: The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo
💙 Favorite Part of the Job: What's not to love? I LITERALLY get paid to do crafts, play with puppets, and blow bubbles
✨ Fun Fact: I enjoy kids' graphic novels more than adult books, I adore a satisfying 500-piece puzzle, I have accidentally but thoroughly killed every plant I have ever touched, and I have never turned down cheese in any format.

We are bringing back our Sunshine Strummers for pre-teens ages 9-12. Register now for this four-week series to learn to play ukulele! Only a few more days left to apply for the Loft Leaders Academy Fall 2026 cohort!

Loft Leaders Academy is a hands-on experience that provides teens with the professional experience, leadership, interpersonal, and life skills necessary to succeed in education, the workplace, and their communities while building confidence, self-esteem, and social consciousness.

Teens 12-18 have the opportunity to engage in weekly educational workshops including guest speakers, field trips, topics of leadership, professionalism, life skills, civic engagement, collaboration, community service, and social entrepreneurship as they work together to propose a solution for issues in their communities.

This week, we're excited to introduce Adam Montague, one of the dedicated team members who helps bring stories to life—both on our shelves and on our stage!

🎭 Role: I am a primary ambassador between the realms of Reality and Make-Believe using portals (books) to orchestrate grand gatherings of tiny humans and their grown-ups while blending stories, scholarship, stagecraft and just the right amount of sparkle into my programs.
📚 Favorite Book: The Measure of a Man: A Spiritual Autobiography by Sidney Poitier... OR... It's Not Easy Being Green: and Other Things to Consider by Jim Henson
🎬 If I could bring any book to life on the stage what would it be: The Black Rabbit by Philippa Leathers... OR... The Day Jimmy's Boa Ate the Wash by Trinka Hakes Noble
💙 Favorite Part of the Job: I enjoy the families I meet, and my co-workers (whom I've met).
✨ Fun Fact: I had the opportunity to work with the China National Theatre for Children in 2017 while in Beijing, teaching Chinese students foundational acting and their teaching artists creative drama techniques.

Dolly believed reading, learning, and libraries were for everyone. continues to uphold and honor her legacy every day. For every story, song, and person. 🦋

During her lifetime, Dolly Parton and her Imagination Library donated over 320 million books to children and families across five countries for absolutely free, every month!

Thank you, Miss Dolly, for the music, love, and books you shared with us for decades❤️Rest in peace. We will always love you.
