Davis for District Court Judge

Davis for District Court Judge Campaign to Elect Roderick G. Davis for Mecklenburg County District Court Judge. Roderick G.

Davis has practiced law in Mecklenburg County for over 15 years of his 20-year legal career. Throughout his time, Roderick has championed justice by seeking a fair trial for his clients; maintaining accountability in the legal process; and having a deep and abiding respect for the rule of law. A native of Wilmington, NC, Roderick attended and graduated from New Hanover County Public Schools. After

graduating high school, Roderick attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. He worked several years as an accountant and auditor in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. After a successful career in accounting, he received a life changing opportunity to enroll in the North Carolina Central University School of Law. Following graduation from law school, Roderick acted on his passion and commitment to community service and worked for three years as an assistant public defender in Durham, North Carolina. The experience was extremely rewarding, and he knew that community service would always be a cornerstone of his legal career. Roderick and his family relocated to Charlotte, NC in 2005 to make the Queen City their permanent home and establish his law office. In his private practice, Roderick has appeared daily in the Mecklenburg County civil and criminal courts and has advocated for and counseled thousands of clients. He has maintained his commitment to service in the Charlotte community by providing criminal defense to indigent clients, through his membership with the John S. Leary Bar Association where he previously was a board member and treasurer and serving on other community boards. While passionate about the justice system, Roderick cherishes his family first and foremost. He and his wife of over 25 years, Melissa, are the proud parents of two school-aged daughters, Lauren (16) and Ryanne (12).

I want to take this opportunity to thank my friends and colleagues for supporting my campaign for District Court Judge. When I initially announced my candidacy, I declared my intention to run for the seat currently occupied by Judge Sean Smith.

My friend and colleague, Dionne Kelly, recently announced that she will no longer pursue her candidacy for District Court Judge. With her support and endorsement, I have decided to run for Seat 13 that will be vacated by Judge Michael Stading at the end of his term.

Public service as always been a cornerstone of my career. Prior to opening my law practice, I served as an assistant public defender in Durham County, North Carolina. For the past sixteen years I have appeared daily in the Mecklenburg County district courts. During this time, I have represented thousands of clients in criminal, civil and other district court related matters. Based on my training and experience, I fully understand the laws and procedures that govern district court, and I will be ready to serve on day one.

I am proud of the work that I have performed and have dedicated my career to public service. Thanks again for your continued support.

And the beat goes on......Stay focused.

A delay could give the GOP a better shot at redrawing the state’s political districts, if the current maps are struck down in court.
