Happy Spring from Station Charlevoix! We have experienced a highly productive couple of months. In particular, last month we conducted our quarterly uniform inspection. This important event is designed to ensure that all members and their uniforms are in full compliance with established uniform regulations.

These inspections not only serve to uphold standards but also play a crucial role in instilling a sense of professionalism and pride within our crew. Overall, these inspections contribute to the cohesion and morale of our team, reinforcing the values we uphold at Station Charlevoix.

Good morning from Station Charlevoix! We would like to extend a huge round of applause to SN Harward and FN Turner for their recent actions.

Recently as both of these crew members were driving home from duty, they spotted a woman who had fallen in her front yard. They stopped the vehicle and quickly sprang into action. They helped the woman up, assessed her for first aid and escorted her into her home while higher level emergency services were dispatched. They both continued to evaluate her and comforted her until EMS (emergency medical services) arrived. Their actions undoubtedly may have saved her life with the winter weather conditions.

Because of their decisiveness and actions they were both awarded with a challenge coin from the Coast Guards District Nine Commander, Admiral Hickey!

Challenge coins are small, medallion-like tokens, often adorned with the emblem or insignia of the presenting organization. Challenge coins serve as a symbol of membership, belonging, and camaraderie, forging a strong bond among those who possess them. They are used to acknowledge an individual's achievements, dedication, or exemplary service, and serve as a tangible reminder of the appreciation and respect of their peers and superiors.

Receiving a challenge coin is a great honor, as it signifies that the recipient has played a special role, making a significant impact on their peers and the organization as a whole. Bravo Zulu shipmates!

Happy Wednesday from Charlevoix the beautiful! This weekend the Crew of Station Charlevoix became fully immersed in some amazing community outreach! They had the pleasure of participating in the local shop with a hero event as well as representing the service during the wreaths across America event. This event was to honor those who have served in every branch of our Armed forces. We love being involved in our close knit surrounding communities and making a positive impact! The shop with a hero event put some serious smiles on everyone’s faces as members of the crew are paired up with a child to shop for their families Christmas presents. The event wrapped up (quite literally) with some gift wrapping allowing the children to have presents ready under the tree. We look forward to these events every year and they also give us the opportunity to bolster the relationships with our local city, county and state agencies. Huge shoutout to Charlevoix Police Department, Michigan State Police, Charlevoix County Sheriff's Office,Lake Charlevoix EMS Authority, Emmet County Sherrif Office and countless other agencies that took part in this event.

Good morning from Station Charlevoix! We’re thrilled to give a warm welcome to BM3 Merten.

Hailing from Minnesota, BM3 Merten is no stranger to the cold and snow. Before reporting to Station Charlevoix, he served on the USCG Cutter Kingfisher home ported in Charleston South Carolina. He is eager to experience the Boat Forces community of the Coast Guard and is excited about the fishing and hunting opportunities in northern Michigan. BM3 shared, “I am excited to become a member of the team at Station Charlevoix, everyone has been so welcoming.” Welcome to Charlevoix the Beautiful Shipmate!

Greetings everyone! As we move into the weekend duty we would like to give a huge shoutout to the amazing Auxilliary team we have here at Station Charlevoix. The Charlevoix Auxilliary Flotilla cooked and served the crew with a phenomenal thanksgiving dinner and came together with us to break bread. We are so grateful to have your service and support and we could not do what we do without you all! The Auxilliary, for those of you who didn’t know, support the active duty component in a strictly volunteer basis. The auxiliary conducts a variety of missions including Search and Rescue and Recreational Boating Safety. They are a major part of our success!

In addition to the awesome thanksgiving meal the duty crew participated in the Charlevoix Holiday Parade! We are super proud to serve the community here in a charlevoix and the surrounding area!
