Statement on DOJ Findings Regarding Electioneering by Amherst SAU Employees

CONCORD, NH - House Election Law Chairman Ross Berry (R-Weare) released the following statement after employees of SAU 39 were found to be illegally distributing campaign flyers, including by having teachers place them student’s backpacks, resulting in a cease and desist from the Attorney General.

“I am shocked and appalled that public employees would attempt to electioneer and illegally influence voters,” Chairman Berry began. “Our teachers and school employees should be using their time to educate the next generation, not giving them political material to take home to their parents.”

“This is a clear and blatant violation of public trust and New Hampshire law. Our hard-earned property tax dollars should fund reading, writing, and math, not pushing political agendas. The fact that these teachers and employees openly manipulated students into political campaigning is horrifying, and we expect accountability.”
