Are Wireless Emergency Alerts enabled on your phone?

Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) provide location-based emergency information directly to compatible mobile devices. The National Weather Service uses WEA for tornado warnings, severe thunderstorm warnings with a “Destructive” damage-threat tag, and flash flood warnings with a “Considerable” or “Catastrophic” damage-threat tag.

Locally, we can also send alerts for evacuations, hazardous conditions, missing and endangered persons, and other emergencies requiring immediate action.

No registration or app is required. Check your phone settings using the steps below to ensure Emergency Alerts and Public Safety Alerts are enabled. When an alert arrives, read the entire message and follow the instructions provided.

Over the last week, the Clark County Local Emergency Planning Committee hosted a 40-hour Confined Space Rescue Operations and Technician course at Tri-Township Fire Department.

This hands-on course provided responders with the training and skills needed to safely operate during complex confined space rescue incidents. The course was funded through the U.S. Department of Transportation Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness (HMEP) Grant Program.

Participating agencies included Clarksville Fire Department, Tri-Township Fire & Rescue, Highlander Fire Protection District, and Clark County Search and Rescue.

Training opportunities like this strengthen our local and regional response capabilities while giving responders from multiple agencies the opportunity to train together before an emergency occurs.

Thank you to Tri-Township Fire Department for hosting the course and to everyone who participated throughout the week.
