...EXTREME HEAT WARNING WILL EXPIRE AT 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING...

Heat indices will continue to drop this evening. Therefore, the
Extreme Heat Warning will expire at 7 pm.

...EXTREME HEAT WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to
around 105 each afternoon. Expect minimal relief overnight with low
temperatures in the mid 70s.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, and west central
Illinois.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Highs near 100 degrees are not out of the question, especially near and south of I-72/Danville, from Tuesday through Thursday. Otherwise, no rain chances for the next several days. Stay hydrated!

Despite meteorological autumn beginning on Tuesday, summertime will remain in full force for the week. Afternoon heat index values of 100-105 degrees are likely, only falling into the mid 70s at night. Such an extended period of heat can adversely affect anyone with prolonged exposure.

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
Central Coles County in east central Illinois...
Western Edgar County in east central Illinois...
Southern Vermilion County in east central Illinois...
Southern Champaign County in east central Illinois...
Douglas County in east central Illinois...

* Until 345 PM CDT.

* At 255 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Sadorus to near Arcola to Cooks Mill, moving
east at 55 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Severe thunderstorms will be near...
Savoy, Tolono, Villa Grove, Philo, Pesotum, Camargo, Humboldt, and
Willard Airport around 300 PM CDT.
Charleston, Sidney, Oakland, and Rardin around 305 PM CDT.
Newman, Broadlands, and Brocton around 310 PM CDT.
Homer, Ashmore, Hume, and Allerton around 315 PM CDT.

Other locations in the path of these severe thunderstorms include
Kansas, Fairmount, Sidell, Chrisman, Georgetown, Catlin, Ridge Farm
and Westville.
