Charleston County Environmental Management will be closed Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day.

**No curbside recycling collection on Monday, May 25; collection will be pushed back one day for the remainder of the week and will run through Saturday. All convenience centers and the Bees Ferry Landfill will be closed on Monday as well.

Please leave plastic bags, garbage bags, and plastic wrap OUT of the cart. Also, all material should be contained LOOSE (not bagged in plastic bags) inside your recycling cart with the lid closed. If you have overflow items, do not bag them. Instead, use our dropsite locations: https://www.charlestoncounty.gov/departments/environmental-management/recycle.php

Charleston County will be hosting a FREE community compost tour at the Bees Ferry Compost Facility on Saturday, May 16th with three different tour opportunities: 9am, 10:30am and noon.

Attendees will be required to sign up using the link below. Attendees will have the opportunity to get a free 5-gallon bucket of compost! PPE and cold drinks will be provided on site! Spots are limited.

Happy 🇲🇽 Cinco de Mayo! 🌮 Enjoy some chips & salsa and margaritas today, but please remember to and only place items like the ones below in your recycling cart. Say "Adios" to items like food waste, plastic bags, plastic food wrap (shrink wrap), and styrofoam cups/take out containers--leave these out of your recycling cart!

Only place items like these in your recycling cart:
✅ paperboard & flattened cardboard
✅ paper
✅ cartons (i.e. milk, juice, and soup cartons)
✅ plastic bottles & containers
✅ glass bottles & jars
✅ aluminum & steel cans
