Some people may think foster care means stepping in to replace a child’s family, but that’s not really the goal. When safely possible, the goal is reunification, and foster parents are an important part of helping that happen.

That can bring up a lot of emotions. You may wonder, “How do I care for a child deeply while also supporting their connection to home?” The answer is not always simple, but it starts with remembering that children and teens should not have to feel caught in the middle.

Foster parents can provide safety, routine and encouragement while families work toward healing and growth. That type of support can help a child feel cared for during a difficult season and help their family keep moving forward.
