Before you fire up the BBQ this weekend, please remember these key Air Force Safety guidelines:

βœ… DO! Keep the grill 10+ feet away from the house and branches.

🚫 DON'T! Grill inside a garage, carport, tent or home.

πŸ”₯ DID YOU KNOW? During a recent five-year period, July proved to be the peak month for grill fires, followed by June, May and August.

Let's keep the flames strictly on the grill so we can all enjoy a safe and fun season!

🚨 ATTENTION 130TH AIRLIFT WING 🚨

The Air Force Aid Society (AFAS) has just launched a NEW initiative to help ease the burden at the pump! Starting TODAY, May 11, eligible Airmen can apply for a one-time $150 Gas Grant. ⛽️

Funds are extremely limited and applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, so do not wait!

Eligibility:

Active Duty (E1–E6)

Active Guard Reserve (AGR) (E1–E6 on 15+ day orders)

National Guard and Reserve on Title 10/32 (E1–E6 on 15+ day orders)
(Note: Limited to one grant per household, including dual-military families).

Required Documents:

Military ID (front and back)

Last full month’s LES

Activation Orders (if applicable)

⏰ Application Window: Opens TODAY, May 11, and closes May 15 (or earlier if funds are exhausted).

πŸš— COMING SOON: Keep an eye out for the "Road Ready" vehicle grant, expected to launch June 1, 2026! This upcoming program is in development and will help cover vehicle maintenance like oil changes, tire rotations, and wiper blade replacements. We will share more info as it becomes available.

Yesterday, our unit hosted its annual Retiree Luncheon, organized by the 130th Airlift Wing Family and Readiness office. We welcomed former members who have significantly contributed to our organization. Attendees received a briefing from leadership and enjoyed a meal while reflecting on their service within the unit.

On May 2, 2026, the 130th Airlift Maintenance Group held a formal Change of Command ceremony.

We bid a fond farewell to Col Ryan Harrah, thanking him for his dedicated leadership and commitment to the mission and the Airmen of the MXG. At the same time, we are proud to welcome Lt Col Thomas Marcum as he officially takes the guidon and assumes command.

The expertise and tireless work of our maintenance teams ensure that we remain a premier airlift wing, capable of answering the call whenever and wherever needed.

Today, during the Military Signing Week ceremony at South Charleston High School, students took an important step by committing to serve their country. Surrounded by loved ones and school officials, they pledged to begin their journey in military service. Colonel Richard F. Switzer, commander of the 130th Airlift Wing, spoke at the ceremony. The event honored each student’s choice to serve, emphasizing their dedication, bravery, and willingness to face new challenges.
