The Historic Rotary Club of Charleston was proud to co-sponsor this incredible mission.

SPRC President, Dr. Marc Benard, along with others from Operation Footprint, finished another successful mission trip to El Salvador in January at Benjamin Bloom Pediatric Hospital. This is a joint international Rotary service project including our club and several other Rotary Clubs. The seven members treated neglected clubfeet, cerebral palsy contractures, and other genetic foot and ankle conditions. They operated on seventeen feet in two days! Many supplies were donated, as were the surgeons’ time and travel.

Please share with friends and family in the metro Charleston area: Charleston County Public Library is now accepting non-perishable food, donations, and partnership with the Charleston County Sheriff's Department at the Wando Mount Pleasant Library, Mt Pleasant Library on Mathis Ferry, the Bees Ferry Library in West Ashley, and the Main Library on Calhoun St, until November 12th. The bulk of these donations will go to CCSD, as there are many hungry families now that the SNAP benefits have been frozen. Thank you, as always, for your support.

Our Rotary Club of Charleston President Karla Combs and Rotary Club of Charleston Breakfast President Edward Scarborough and "Flat Bernie" appeared on WCBD News 2 this week with Carolyn Murray to celebrate Rotary International and their 40-year role End Polio Now around the world. From 350,000 children being crippled and dying of polio every year when Rotary took on this mantle in 1985, to just 28 cases this year in the two remaining endemic countries: Afghanistan and Pakistan! We are 99.9% of the way there!

Rotary Club of West Ashley - Charleston, Charleston and Charelston Breakfast are collaborating to on the Campaign. You can help us to finish the job by donating any amount today to our efforts here: https://raise.rotary.org/Sandy-Morckel/fundraiser987

As a reminder, September 1st is the deadline for the Rotary Club of Charleston Fund (RCCF) bi-annual grant award to local nonprofits in the Charleston area. The first 12 applications will be considered.

Local non-profits can find more information on eligibility and how to apply here: https://charleston-rotary.org/guidelines-for-grant-applicants/

The RCCF makes contributions primarily to support local community needs, although the fund’s granting authority is flexible enough to support other projects deemed by the Fund’s governing board to qualify for charitable, educational or other philanthropic purposes.

Grants disbursed by the RCCF primarily are targeted for unique or non-recurring needs; that is, grants are intended for specific short-term projects, one-time events or one-time needs. Grants, awarded with the scope of the purposes of section 501(c)(3) of the Code, are not awarded to organizations for multiple or successive years. Grants will not be awarded for general operating needs of an organization.

Our past grant recipients include Amor Healing Kitchen, Camp Days, Lowcountry Orphan Relief, ICNA Relief- Shifa Free Clinic, SC Charleston Pro Bono Legal Services, Teachers Closet, etc.
