Coles County Crimestoppers

Crime Stoppers is a non-profit organization, made up of a board of concerned citizens to support the efforts of law enforcement agencies in Coles County, Illinois. Relying upon the cooperation of the community, the media, and the local law enforcement, this program is designed to develop information in solving crimes. It offers cash rewards up to $1000 to persons who furnish information leading to the arrest and filing of charges against person involved in criminal offenses.

The Charleston Police Department is proud to announce the swearing-in of new Officer Courtland Brooks. Brooks will be off for several weeks of intensive training at the police academy before he rejoins our ranks on the streets. Congrats and welcome, Ofc. Brooks!

Congratulations to our newest member, Cadet Squad Leader and Officer Albert Adkins as he graduates the Southwestern Illinois College Police Academy.

Our neighbors can see him out in the community, keeping Charleston safe, starting this Monday.

Update: The tractor has been recovered.

The Coles County Sheriffs is looking for assistance in identifying the individual driving this tractor or any information regarding the theft of the Joh Deere 4020 Tractor in the photo. The tractor was stolen yesterday at approximately 6:30 p.m. just outside of Charleston on West Polk Ave and was last seen traveling west on County Road 720 North near Beech Tree road.

Please welcome MPD's newest Officer - Trevor Nicholson.

Trevor graduated from the Macon County Law Enforcement Training Center (MCLETC) on Friday after successfully completing the 16 week academy.

Trevor comes to us from Flora, Illinois and a law enforcement family. His father retired from Flora, Illinois Police Department as Chief of Police. Not only is Trevor beginning his new career in law enforcement but he is planning a wedding with his fiance, Mariah!

We are very excited to have Trevor and looking forward to him serving our great community!

Day 1 - Trevor had to show the old guys how to run down a suspect!
