⚙️Behind every successful mission is always someone keeping the gears turning. Petty Officer Third Class (PO3) Day has been recognized for exactly that!

PO3 Day’s efforts were integral in maintaining life rafts, watertight integrity, and firefighting systems of the Charleston based cutters. Additionally, he prototyped a generator-excitor removal tool to ease the workload of the technicians ⚒️🧯

Using his knowledge of welding and fabrication, PO3 Day bolstered operational readiness and safety of National Security Cutters and Seagoing Buoy Tender.

🎨 Fresh paint, proud signs, and a whole lot of talent behind the brush!

Check out the incredible work from our Facilities Engineering Division (FED), who recently wrapped up several site painting and beautification projects across Base Charleston — including a crisp new look for our main sign.

Big shoutout to the hardworking team keeping our base looking sharp! 👏🇺🇸

🌀 A Reenlistment with a Twist!

Today at Base Charleston, we had the honor of reenlisting HS1 Comolli… though not quite in the usual fashion.

HS1 chose to reaffirm his commitment to the U.S. Coast Guard while hanging upside down—proving once again that no matter the orientation, he’s all in. His dedication, professionalism, and sense of humor are exactly what make this service great.

Bravo Zulu, HS1 Comolli! Thanks for keeping us grounded—even when you’re not. 🇺🇸💪

🗣️Attention to Advancement🙌

Big news from Base Charleston!

At this week’s All Hands meeting, we had the distinct honor of witnessing MK2 Mikaela Yurkin receive a meritorious advancement to MK1—personally awarded by Rear Admiral List, Commander of Coast Guard Operational Logistics Command!

MK1 Yurkin’s exceptional leadership, technical expertise, and unwavering commitment to service have made a lasting impact on our fleet and community. From overhauling critical diesel generators to mentoring junior members and stepping up during manpower shortages, her dedication truly embodies the Coast Guard’s core values.

Bravo Zulu, MK1 Yurkin! Your advancement is more than well-deserved!

This week two of our dedicated Coast Guard members volunteered their time to support Soldiers’ Angels, helping bag and distribute groceries for veterans in need. Their commitment to service goes beyond the uniform—making a difference in our community and honoring those who have served. Bravo Zulu!

Congratulations to our two outstanding Coast Guard members, YN2 Riggs and ET3 Awketey, for successfully compelting Airman Leadership School (ALS)! ALS is a five-week professional military education course designed to develop junior enlisted members into effective front-line supervisors. Hosted by the U.S. Air Force, the course focuses on leadership, communication, and the profession of arms, while promoting joint-service collaboration. We’re proud to see Coast Guard members stepping up, representing the service with pride, and strengthening partnerships across the armed forces.

BZ on a job well done!
