WV COUNTY CLERKS ARE PREPARING for the 2026 Primary Election set for Tuesday, May 12.

Recently county clerks and their staff met at the County Clerk Election Training Conference to learn more about election legislation recently passed by the legislature, voter registration, federal guidelines, absentee voting, election day preparation, ADA compliance for polling locations, canvassing, and election night reporting.

‼️🚴‍♂️ ATTENTION: Kanawha County Commission to Close Courthouse Early Thursday and Friday due to USA Cycling Events

Charleston, WV – The Kanawha County Commission will close the Courthouse and the Public Safety Complex at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 22nd and Friday, May 23rd to allow staff to exit the parking lots and head home ahead of cycling events on those days.

Kanawha Boulevard will be closed from Capitol Street to Clendenin Street all day on Thursday and Friday. From 5 p.m. to midnight on Thursday and Friday, the Kanawha Boulevard closures extend to include Morris Street as well. Local traffic can exit McFarland Street and Leon Sullivan Way on Kanawha Boulevard traveling eastbound toward the Capitol.

The Kanawha County Judicial building, including the Courts and Circuit Clerk’s Office, are unaffected by these early closures.

Thank you to all the first responders, police officers, fire fighters, volunteers and event organizers for helping to make these exciting events run as smoothly as possible.

The Early Voting turnout in Kanawha County has been outstanding so far!! There are still 5 days left to vote early. 8am-5pm tomorrow - Friday and 9am-5pm Saturday at all 9 locations.

Day 2 of Early Voting brought out 3816 voters. Over the past 2 days in Kanawha County 7416 people have cast their ballots totaling 6% of the overall registered voters.
