Charles Town Councilman Mike Brittingham

Charles Town Councilman Mike Brittingham Help support Mike Brittingham for Charles Town, WV City Council. Mike has an intense desire to improve the quality of life for all residents and visitors.

Mike Brittingham has devoted the majority of his adult life to public service and is excited to announce his candidacy for Charles Town, WV Ward 2 City Councilman. Mike discovered his passion for public service at the age of 15 years old when he first joined the Ocean City, MD Volunteer Fire Company. He realized quickly that he enjoyed taking part in organizations that gave back to the community a

nd served people in their most desperate times. Mike has been a member of the OCVFC for 18 years and although no longer lives in Ocean City, remains a member to this day and volunteers whenever his schedule affords him the opportunity. Upon graduating high school in 2002 Mike joined the United States Marine Corps. He attended boot camp in Paris Island, SC. He participated in deployments to support Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and Humanitarian Aid missions while stationed primarily in Okinawa, Japan. Mike was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2006 and completed his Active Duty service with the Marine Corps in 2007. After leaving the Marine Corps Mike chose a career in law enforcement. He became a Maryland State Trooper upon graduating from the Maryland State Police Training Academy in December of 2007. He enjoyed his time as a Maryland State Trooper but resigned his position in order to attend college in Baltimore, MD. While attending college in Baltimore Mike met the love of his life, Jessica. Mike and Jessica were married in 2012 and are expecting their first child, a daughter in March of 2017. Mike and Jessica knew they had a passion for community, education and business. In 2014 they saw their dreams come true when they acquired the Purcellville Children's Academy in Purcellville, VA. After many long nights, sweat-filled weekends and an outpouring of support from friends, family and the customers they serve they have been able to grow a successful and well-respected child care center. Mike and Jessica moved to Charles Town in March of 2013. They picked Charles Town because it appeared to be an Historic Town with good schools and a wide range of outdoor activities to keep them busy as they prepared to start a family. They discovered that it offered affordable housing and great neighborhoods. Mike plans to continue his public service by running for Charles Town City Council. Mike believes that Charles Town could be much more. Mike thinks he can help the Town implement new ideas in regards to crime, economic development and budgetary issues. He thinks Charles Town would be served well by bringing new businesses to town that will serve the growing population. Instead of our families heading to Martinsburg, Leesburg or Wi******er to find entertainment after a long week at work there is potential for them to find it here. He would like to not only see an increase in restaurant, nightlife and shopping options but also to see an increase in community oriented events that are family friendly while still appealing to the younger segment of our Town. Mike believes that it is much harder to do that if you haven't first reduced the amount of property and drug crimes in the area. He believes in pro-active community policing where police are actively looking for persons that are committing crime in our communities and also engaging the public as much as possible in order to open up clear lines of communication between our citizens and our police department. With your support we can revitalize Charles Town, provide the amenities that our citizens desire and keep this a safe and amazing area to work and live. Mike has devoted his life to public service as a Volunteer Firefighter, Marine, State Trooper and Business Owner.
