This week, participants in the Charles City County Fire & EMS Citizens Fire Academy had the opportunity to learn about the many services and responsibilities of their local fire and EMS personnel.

The Citizens Fire Academy is designed to provide residents with a behind-the-scenes look at the daily operations of Fire & EMS. Participants gain a better understanding of emergency response, firefighting operations, emergency medical services, specialized equipment, fire prevention efforts, and the training required to serve our community.

Through hands-on activities, demonstrations, and interaction with firefighters and EMS personnel, participants experience firsthand the challenges and rewards of public safety service. Programs like the Citizens Fire Academy help strengthen the relationship between Fire & EMS and the community by promoting education, transparency, and engagement.

We would like to thank all of our participants for their enthusiasm, questions, and commitment to learning more about the services provided by Charles City County Fire & EMS. We hope this experience provides a greater appreciation for the men and women who answer the call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Charles City County Fire & EMS had the privilege of providing CPR training to the dedicated staff of Charles City County Parks & Recreation. The training was led by Deputy Chief Bridgers and EMS Lieutenant Spivey, who instructed participants on recognizing cardiac emergencies, activating the emergency response system, and performing high-quality CPR until the arrival of first responders.

Cardiac emergencies can happen anytime and anywhere, and immediate action by a bystander can greatly increase a person’s chance of survival. Through this hands-on training, Parks & Recreation staff gained valuable knowledge and skills that can help them respond confidently during an emergency when every second matters.

Community education remains a vital part of the mission of Charles City County Fire & EMS. By partnering with county departments and community organizations, we strive to ensure that more people are prepared to take lifesaving action when needed. The skills learned today not only benefit the participants but also help create a safer environment for the children, families, and community members who utilize our parks and recreation facilities.

We would like to thank the Parks & Recreation staff for their participation, enthusiasm, and commitment to learning these important skills. Their dedication to serving the community extends beyond their daily responsibilities and contributes to the overall safety of Charles City County.

πŸš‘ You don’t have to wear a badge to save a life. CPR training empowers ordinary people to make an extraordinary difference.
