A Frank Lloyd Wright structure is a unique and wonderful thing. Even private residences are studied, considered, and lovingly cared for by enthusiastic fans. Although the Alvin Miller House is our private residence, many people are interested in its history and current status, particularly after the massive damage following the Iowa floods of 2008. We will endeavor to provide as much information as possible without compromising privacy concerns.

Does anyone in the vicinity have Easter Lilies they are done with and don't plan to plant? We are working to implement the ISU researched planting plans to put the landscaping back the way Inez Miller had it in the 1950s. Thank you to Inez Miller's great granddaughter Katie Rents for sharing this photo that Inez took of her beautiful lilies.

Sounds like it is time to return for another tour and to enjoy this fun video. We are going to the Frank Lloyd Wright's Martin House house this week.

Exciting news: Our newest exhibition, "The Kaufmann Films: A Legacy in Motion" opens in the Speyer Gallery this May!

If you're visiting Fallingwater for a tour, you'll also be able to step into the past and view rarely seen archival films from the Kaufmanns, the visionary family behind Fallingwater. Glimpse private moments with friends, a stroll with Frank Lloyd Wright, summer weekends with Kaufmann store employees, the first stones of Fallingwater being placed – and immerse yourself in the evolving story of a place where nature, art and architecture intertwine.

This installation is guest-curated by Pittsburgh filmmaker, Michael Savisky.

We're wondering if any of you spent time with the Millers at their lovely home in Charles City, IA or at church, or around town? We often look at the historic photos and see something we hadn't noticed before. We've been working on restoring the landscape so we've been paying close attention to the plants and yard. Today we noticed the nice detail shown in the root cellar door as well as the blue pump with pipes going into the corner of the boat slip. We're wondering if they used the pump to water plants or to fill the small pool we've been told existed behind the boat slip rock wall and in front of the rock planter against the retaining wall, or for some other use.

This is the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Alvin Miller House perf I've embroidered on to fabric for outdoor furniture. Rainy days are great for working on projects. So far I've completed a pillow and started on the cover for chaise lounge cushion. I'll bring my serger next trip which will make everything go much faster.

The river is back to normal (after going up to 12.6' just before midnight Wednesday night) and the Miller House is getting there. Actually, emptying the home of most of the furniture was a boon in some ways, as it allows us to more easily work on the floors in areas where it was difficult to get to. We are busy removing carpet glue and filling tack strip holes from wall-to-wall carpet installed (and removed after the 25' flood) before we purchased. We will spend some time finishing many of these sorts of details before we get every table and chair back in place. The landscape is looking better than before but is not as far along as we'd planned after being sidetracked by the flood. We are so grateful for all of the help as we continue to move forward!
