🚧 BRACKETT STREET RAILROAD CROSSING CLOSURE 🚧

The City of Charles City would like to notify residents that the Brackett Street railroad crossing will be closed beginning the morning of Monday, June 22, for railroad crossing improvements. This is the first of three railroad improvement projects scheduled throughout the city this summer.

❌ The crossing will be closed to all traffic. No vehicles will be able to cross the tracks at Brackett Street during construction.

⏳ The closure is expected to last approximately two weeks, although the schedule may be adjusted due to weather conditions, railroad operations, or construction progress.

🚗 Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes and avoid the area during the closure.

These improvements are being made to enhance safety and provide a smoother crossing for motorists. The City appreciates the public's patience and cooperation as this important work is completed.

⚠️ IMPORTANT UTILITY BILLING NOTICE ⚠️

Due to a software issue, certain utility bills mailed on June 10 contained incorrect present sewer readings. Customers may notice that the water and sewer readings on their bill did not match as expected.

✅ The issue has been corrected.

📬 If you received an affected bill, please disregard the bill mailed on June 10. A corrected bill has been issued or will be issued shortly.

📱 Customers enrolled in FrontDesk who receive their utility bill electronically will receive a notification when their corrected bill is available.

📮 Customers who receive their utility bill by mail, including those enrolled in FrontDesk but who have elected to receive paper bills, will receive a corrected bill by mail.

Lisette 'Bookgirl' Metsalu, a university student from Europe, Estonia is doing a summer exchange program here in Iowa over the summer. She will be in Charles City over the next month going door to door selling educational books 📚 and apps for families from young toddlers all the way to college prep. She has obtained her peddler permit with the City. If you see her out and about, feel free to say hi 👋🏽
