The Charles City Department of Social Services, along with the partnership of Parks and Recreation, presents the Fatherhood Initiative Program.

We're calling all fathers, father figures, and their children to join us for an unforgettable day of fun at Uptown Alley on Saturday, May 17th, from 12pm to 4pm. This free event includes transportation, delicious food, snacks, and even arcade cards for everyone!

The Charles City County Department of Social Services is accepting applications for Christmas Assistance. Depending on available resources, Christmas gifts will be provided to children in need between the ages of birth-18 years of age by December 31, 2023.

All parents and/or legal guardians and children must be a resident of Charles City County. This program is on a first come, first serve basis. The names of the children will not be released.

If you are in need of assistance, please complete the enclosed form and return to your child’s teacher or to Charles City Social Services by Friday, October 13, 2023. Please remember that assistance will be provided on a first come, first serve basis and the availability of resources.

Charles City County extends our deepest condolences to the family of Former Charles City County Board of Supervisor member, Mr. Timothy W. Cotman, Sr. He served on Charles City’s Board of Supervisors from 2002-2011.

Our very own, LaToya Johnson-Davis, VIEW Coordinator (Virginia Initiative for Education and Work) developed and implemented our first J.A.M. Session (Jobs and Motivation) these sessions are designed to motivate, educate, empower, and transform our participants as we lead them to financial independence and self sufficiency! She showed them how to step into their purpose!

Christmas in July helps bridge the gap from the Holiday
Season through the Summer to enable clients to be
independent during storm season. We will be putting disaster
preparedness bags with shelf stable food and toiletries to
assist older adults and those in need during power outages.
