Charleroi Firefighters keeping busy today responding to the State Street crossing in Lower Speers for a vehicle struck by a train. No injuries reported. Several crossings in Speers and Charleroi are closed until Norfolk Southern Railroad can complete their investigation. Bujanowski towing assist on the scene.

At approximately 12:20 hours, Station 33 along with mutual aid (22, 47, 17, 11, 81) for a possible garage fire. Engine 1 and Chief 33 arrived and found a garbage can fire that was extending into the outside of the garage and was already hit with a fire extinguisher. Engine 1 deployed a hand line and knocked the rest of it down and performed salvage and overhaul. Great work to everyone!

Around noon today Rescue-33 and Car-1 responded into North Charleroi to assist 22 on a MVA with one trapped. Rescue-33 crew stabilized the vehicle and removed the driver door for patient access. Rostraver EMS had patient care. Great work to all crews.

This evening for training members reviewed vehicle rescue operations. Crews practiced stabilizing a vehicle on its roof and tunneling in from the rear of the vehicle as if we had no access to the sides of it.
