Welcome aboard Chief Goodhind!!

The Charlemont Selectboard unanimously voted to appoint Chris Goodhind as the new shared fire chief for Charlemont and Rowe, with his official start date set for August 14.

Tonight members of Charlemont and Rowe practiced and familiarizing themselves with extrication tools called jaws of life.
Members used the spreaders to grab and move an egg from one traffic cone to another. They also used the spreaders in a game we call jaw Jenga.

Today is an exciting day for the Charlemont Fire Department and the community we proudly serve.

We are incredibly grateful to Congressman Richard Neal for securing $599,000 in federal funding to help us replace our aging 1996 pumper with a modern fire apparatus that will better protect our residents, visitors, and neighboring communities through mutual aid. This investment is something that simply would not have been possible without federal support for a small rural department like ours.

This new truck will enhance firefighter safety, improve emergency response capabilities, and ensure we meet today's fire service standards for years to come. It is an investment not only in our department, but in the safety of everyone who lives in, works in, or visits our region.

We would also like to thank the Town of Charlemont, our Town Administrator, Select Board, and everyone who supported this effort from start to finish. It truly took a team effort to make this project a reality.

Most importantly, thank you to our dedicated firefighters—past and present—whose commitment to serving our community every day makes investments like this so meaningful.

Congressman Richard Neal announced $599,000 in federal funding for a new fire truck for Charlemont to replace the town’s aging pumper and enhance public safety.

Four of our members and three members from the Rowe Fire Department brought trucks down to the Shelburne Falls parade. During line up Charlemont was requested to the town of Orange mutual aid with the brush truck to assist with a large brush fire.

four of our members responded mutual aid along with numerous other departments from around the county in the brush truck with our UTV to assist with fire ground operations.
