Lucas County Conservation Board The Lucas County Conservation manages more than 2,000 acres of public areas, including The Cinder Path.

It is the first rails to trails trail in the state of Iowa and is 13 miles long. Please call ahead for staff availability and open hours for Pin Oak Lodge.

The Lucas County Conservation will be holding two day camps this summer! Nature’s Superheroes Camp will be held June 9th, 10th and 11th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm for 7-9 year olds. Past, Present and Future Camp will be June 16th, 17th and 18th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm for 10-12 year olds. Registration forms can be picked up/filled out at Pin Oak Lodge or requested by email at [email protected], leaving a message on the answering machine will NOT constitute registration. Camps will be limited to 20. Please call 641-774-2438 or email the above address with any questions.

Pin Oak Lodge will be open for the first Saturday of the month tomorrow, May 2nd, from 9:00am to 3:30pm.

On Sunday, May 3rd, the Lucas County Conservation Birders will be meeting at the Mine Pond Campground area of Stephen's Forest at 8:00am for a birding outing. There will be 2 extra pairs of binoculars and bug spray available if anyone does not have their own.
