Thawing food on the counter can push it into the “danger zone,” where bacteria grow fast—so choose safer methods like the fridge, cold water, or the microwave. Smart thawing keeps your meals safe and your family healthy!

The Clover Kids 4-H Club participated in an Iowa Clover Kids Service Project again this year. This year, the leaders selected to talk about food pantries available in Lucas County for people in need of food. The 4-Hers listened to an audio book about a little girl who learned everyone can share something with others, whether it's helping by giving them food or by simply giving a smile to others! The 4-Hers donated non-perishable food items and the leaders brought cake mixes and canned frosting. They made "Have a happy day!" cards and packed the cards with cake mixes and canned frosting in bags to give to to pantries. They divided all the donated food and distributed them to three walk up mini-pantry locations in Chariton and Lucas. The 4-Hers learned how good it feels to give to others! We love showing we care about the people in Lucas County by giving to those in need!
-The Clover Kid's 4-H members and their Leaders: Macey McConahay, Megan Reeves and Jodee Jorgenson
