📡When emergencies happen, Geauga County Emergency Management Agency is there to support first responders. 🚨🚒
Agency personnel work on scene with incident command by coordinating response efforts, providing valuable expertise, and keeping the public informed.
When severe weather like tornados impact Geauga County, EMA personnel assess hazards and impacts, such as identifying damaged or destroyed property. The agency documents risks, establishes recovery priorities, and connects the community with the support it needs after an emergency.
🌪️A recent example is the severe storms on March 31st, 2026. During the storms, EMA staff monitored the weather, power outages, and emergency incident calls; checked in with first responders for needs; and worked with the utilities on restoration efforts. ⛈️
Based on reports from first responders, EMA staff began to assess storm damage, alerting the National Weather Service (NWS) when evidence of a tornado was located. That damage survey resulted in a confirmed tornado event report from the NWS.
