CASA for Kids of Geauga County

CASA for Kids of Geauga County CASA for Kids is a program of the Geauga County Juvenile Court, Judge Timothy J. Grendell, presiding. (ohiocasa.org)

We are volunteers who advocate for the best interest of abused and neglected children in the court system. The time is now: Each move means new foster parents or a new kinship placement, and often a new school. CASA Volunteers frequently become the only consistent adult presence in the child’s life. Our volunteers not only advocate for a safe home, but for educational resources and mental health r

esources. And because child welfare systems are constantly overloaded, CASA Volunteers are an adult who is part of their life because they want to be. More than 16,000 children in Ohio are currently in foster or kinship care.

Congratulations to our CASA of the Year, Lori Swain!

Lori is the kind of advocate every child deserves. She is always willing to take on a new case and a new challenge, forming meaningful connections with the children, families, and providers she works alongside. Her compassion, dedication, and ability to truly listen make an incredible impact on the lives of the children she serves.

One parent recently shared after Lori spoke with their child:
“He feels so much better after your talk… He must have felt heard. Thank you.”
Sometimes, being heard can make all the difference.

Lori’s thoughtful investigations, strong recommendations, and collaborative spirit continually help ensure the best interests of children are at the center of every case. She is respected not only by families and providers, but also by attorneys, court professionals, and CASA staff alike.

We are so grateful for Lori’s commitment, heart, and advocacy. She is truly an asset to our CASA program and so deserving of this recognition.

Congratulations, Lori, and thank you for all you do for CASA children!

This week, we had the honor of celebrating our incredible CASA volunteers at our CASA Appreciation Dinner.

To our advocates — thank you for showing up, speaking up, and standing beside children when they need support the most. Your compassion, dedication, and commitment make a lasting impact in the lives of so many children and families in our community.

We are truly grateful for each and every one of you. Thank you for being the heart of CASA. 💙

You don’t have to foster to change a child’s life.

During National Foster Care Month, we’re reminding Geauga County that showing up looks different.

CASA volunteers are the ones asking,
“Is this really what’s best for this child?”

They speak up. They stay consistent. They don’t disappear.

And for kids going through some of the hardest moments of their lives—that matters more than you think. 💙

CASA volunteers are dedicated to their role in advocating for their CASA children.

One provider commented, “I was impressed with the CASA just for taking the time out of his busy schedule to be a CASA volunteer, but really admired him for how he immersed himself in the case he was assigned.”
