We want to congratulate Chappaqua Firefighter Amit Patel (top row, second from left) on completing his Firefighter 1 training course yesterday! Amit attended the Valhalla training center every Sunday for the past few months, completing 140 hours of training on top of family, work, and other commitments, demonstrating his passion and dedication to the firefighting service. We’re incredibly proud and look forward to responding with Amit! Congratulations!

Today, we want to congratulate our five Horace Greeley High School seniors on their graduation. These five young men balanced academics, athletics, jobs, volunteer hours, and college applications while completing their Firefighter 1 courses in their junior and senior years, and attending calls and training throughout.

Will is heading off to UW Seattle and is undeclared, but hoping to study engineering.
Sam J. is off to Lehigh University, where he’ll be studying architecture.
Ethan B. will be attending Hamilton College, and studying history.
Ethan W. is studying industrial engineering at Northeastern University.
Last but not least, Sam S. is headed to the University of Chicago where he will study Physics and Quantum Engineering!

We know they will continue to do well! Congratulations and best of luck in college!

Good morning

This morning in the area of the seven bridges middle school Chappaqua Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Millwood Fire and the Chappaqua Fire Dept will be conducting a large scale drill and training exercise from 8 AM until approximately noon. Please do not be alarmed if you see a large number of emergency personnel and apparatus and please avoid the campus.

Today at 13:24, the Chappaqua Fire Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on the Saw Mill Parkway. Car 2061 (Chief Zezze) responded to the scene, and determined that extrication was needed for a single vehicle accident. 2061 called additional units from both Chappaqua and mutual aid from to respond to the scene. The Saw Mill southbound was closed at Reader’s Digest to allow the first responders to safely operate on the parkway and remove the patients from the vehicle. Once extricated, transported two patients to area hospitals. The scene was turned over to the county police and all units were cleared and back at the firehouse by 15:00. Last Saturday, Chappaqua firefighters John Preizler, Gavin Preizler, and Ethan Wecksell completed their Firefighter 1 training course. All Chappaqua firefighters must complete the New York State training course to prepare them for both exterior and interior firefighting operations. All three members balanced this extensive time commitment on top of career, academic, and family priorities, and were incredibly proud to welcome them back and see them start to use their training on calls!

At 7:07 this morning, the Chappaqua Fire Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in the area of Wagon Road Camp on Quaker Road. Upon arrival, Chief Zezze (2062) upgraded the alarm to a confirmed working car fire with negative entrapment. Chief Eiden (2061) arrived on scene and assumed command, with Chief Zezze remaining in charge of operations. As a precaution, the Chappaqua Fire Department also requested the dispatch of Millwood Fire Department, bringing additional resources to the accident. On scene were Chief Santone (2253), Chappaqua Rescue 23, Chappaqua Engine 146, and Millwood Engine 247, while Millwood Engine 248 and Chief Rodrigues (2251) remained in quarters to cover Millwood and Chappaqua fire districts in the case of another alarm. Using water and fire suppression foam from all three apparatus, firefighters were able to put out the car fire and keep it from spreading in the woods. The driver luckily was able to self extricate with minor injuries and was taken (as a precaution) to Northern Westchester Hospital. The roadway was opened approximately 90 minutes later with all units returning to service. We would like to thank , and for all their assistance.
