Don't forget to register for our Hikes With Hounds session on Thursday, September 24. People and shelter dogs will explore the trails at Blackwood Farm Park during a 3-mile hike. This hike is generally considered easy to the very low-end of moderate, but it may feel more strenuous in extreme temperatures. Also, these dogs are energetic and happy to be outdoors, meaning you'll likely be walking a playful companion that does some pulling due to excitement. So, please hydrate and prepare to get your exercise!

Like many dogs in NC and many dogs at our shelter, Jerry has heartworms. He's being treated and the team at the shelter can tell you more about that if you're interested in adopting him. Heartworms are transmitted by mosquito bites. Heartworm disease may cause severe lung disease, heart failure, or other organ damage in dogs. It's usually fatal if left untreated.
