⚠️ UPDATE: CenterPoint Energy says the strong gas odor reported across parts of the Houston area Thursday is NOT linked to damage to its natural gas pipelines.

The company says “no major issues” have been detected on its system at this time, but crews are continuing to investigate reports tied to the smell reported in areas including Tomball, Cypress, Spring, Kingwood, east Houston, and Channelview.

Earlier Thursday, the odor prompted multiple emergency responses — including a temporary evacuation at Lone Star College-Houston North Fallbrook.

🚨 If you smell natural gas:
▪️ Leave the area immediately on foot
▪️ Avoid flames or sparks
▪️ Report it to CenterPoint at 713-659-2111 or 800-752-8036

CHANNELVIEW HIGH SCHOOL BIDS FAREWELL TO LONG TIME FOOTBALL COACH 🏈

After nearly two decades leading the Falcons, Averion Hurts Sr. is stepping away from the program that helped shape one of the Houston area’s most recognizable football families.

Known for his leadership, discipline, and dedication to young athletes, Hurts Sr. spent years building more than just a football team — he helped create a culture that impacted generations of players both on and off the field.

His influence extends far beyond the sidelines, as the Hurts name has become widely respected in football circles across Texas and the nation. Under his guidance, the Falcons program earned a reputation for toughness, consistency, and developing talent.

The announcement marks the close of a significant chapter in Houston-area youth football, with many players, parents, and supporters reflecting on the legacy he leaves behind.
