Hello Mayor's Youth Commission and Guests,

Just touching base with our next volunteer effort in January. The Scottsdale Teen Town Hall Event is Tomorrow Thursday, January 21 in Scottsdale.

The next volunteer effort in January is tomorrow, Thursday, January 21 from 3pm to 8:00pm in Scottsdale. You will be meeting (Katheryn Mountford) in the lobby of the Community Center at 3pm. The staff in charge of volunteers for this event will be Katheryn Mountford. Please be on time. If you show up late, you may be asked to leave. Please contact me at the Community Center if you have any questions at 480-782-2710 today, January 20 the latest. If you need to contact me after please contact me at 516-476-9778.

Dinner will be provided when you get to the venue at 4pm/4:30pm. It will be Canes Chicken.

The dress code for the event will be to wear jeans (no holes or rips), sneakers and your black MYC commission polo shirt or a black polo shirt. If you do not have a MYC polo shirt, please wear a black plain t-shirt or black polo shirt.

Duties at the event: You will observe the event, take notes and engage yourself. Try to bring something back that we can use at our Teen Town Hall.

VERY IMPORTANT: There is a permission slip attached in this email that you will need your parents to sign. You can bring it tomorrow to the Community Center and turn it in by 3pm. You will also need for your parents to log into the follow link to sign the waiver for the City of Scottsdale. It should take them 10 minutes max to fill out the form.

Creative Expression Competition

The Creative Expression Competition is open to all students living or attending school in Chandler. Students are encouraged to enter the competition in either of the following categories: Performance, Writing, Visual Art and Video.

Returning and enhanced this year, students will be able to enter their very own stylized video depicting this year’s theme.
Video Category Details: For those students submitting an entry in the video category you must submit a copy of your video on DVD. City staff will upload your video to a YouTube Channel. The top 3-5 entries will then be grouped together in one video on the Community and Neighborhood Resources YouTube Channel for public voting.
**Please note that all material presented must be deemed appropriate by judges. All entries that do not meet competition guidelines may be subject to disqualification.

MYC first fundraiser is this Saturday and Sunday at the ASA Softball competetion at Snedigar. We will be having our first fund-rasier from 10am-4pm. If we sell out of our items, we get to go home early. The following people are working on Saturday: Heba Shiban, Hannah Miao, Jocelyn Alvar and Bella Tassinari. The following people working on Sunday: Joaquin Lara, Anuj Shah, Rahul Ramesh.
