Join us and Oklahoma State University Natural Resources Extension to learn how to improve habitat for deer and wild turkeys on your property! We will discuss deer and turkey habitat requirements, food plots, forest management and prescribed fire. We will have a prescribed fire demonstration as part of the event if weather allows.
The Lexington WMA Field Day is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on June 12. Registration is required. Register and get more info here:

Jointed Goatgrass (Aegilops cylindrica)
- NON-NATIVE
- Cool-season annual
- Abundant in disturbed sites like wheat fields, roadsides, & overgrazed pastures
- Decreases with spring burning
Identification:
- Cylindric seedheads with long awns
- Stiff, short, evenly spaced hairs on leaf edge
- Swollen green nodes
- Spikelets with no awns

Carolina Joint-Tail (Coelorachis cylindrica)
- NATIVE
- Warm-season perennial
- Abundant in moist soils in prairies, meadows, & roadsides
- Palatable to livestock & wildlife
Identification:
- Cylindric seedheads with no awns
- No hairs on leaves or stems
- Swollen purple nodes
- Spikelets with no awns

They attach and can transmit disease within hours. Protect yourself by using insect repellent, wearing long sleeves and pants, and checking yourself, kids, and pets after time outside.
