We’ve had several people ask in recent weeks how they could help the fire department. We could always use Gatorade and snacks, so I’ll put a link to an Amazon wish list.

Last night members conducted training on a new piece of equipment, the blitz fire! The blitz fire is a portable ground monitor used primarily in defensive fire ground operations. It is also a powerful tool in expose protection on structure fires, keeping a neighboring house protected from high intensity radiant heat! The blitz fire can be either manned or unmanned and is capable of delivering up to 500 gallons per minute of water! Members got hands on with pump operations and flowing the blitz fire and hand lines!

Training was put on by Instructor Tyler Jordan and was attended by Asst. Chief Wes Johnston, and Firefighters Sabrina Blevins, Grayson Delaney, Scott Hobbs, Jason Hollowell and Landon Nesmith!

Not only is Austin Shepard a Firefighter for Smith County Emergency Services District 2, but did you know that he is one our Firefighters too?

Austin and his Wife Sydney recently moved here to Chandler! Prior to even living in our district, Austin applied with us so he’d be ready to respond once he moved to town! We’re extremely proud of Austin and we are thankful for his dedication to the Chandler Fire Department!

Good save, Austin!

Yesterday we had the pleasure of participating in Oliver’s big birthday parade! Oliver was diagnosed with leukemia and has been undergoing treatment that has left him immunocompromised and unable to have lots of visitors! Our Chandler and Brownsboro community showed out in a big way for little Oliver! No child should ever have to battle cancer, but if they do, we have their backs! Continued prayers for the Reece family are certainly appreciated! God bless you, Bear, and Happy Birthday!!! 🎁🎉🎈

What was supposed to be a small drive-by from their church community turned into a big birthday parade with first responders for a four-year-old named Oliver Reece, who also goes by Bear, who is fighting leukemia.

ENGINE 2 PUSH-IN CEREMONY

Today was a momentous day in the history of our Fire Department! This morning Chief Robert York and Firefighters hosted community members to welcome the arrival of a brand new Rosenbauer Warrior Fire Engine! At approximately 11:30, Engine #2 made its’ grand arrival into Chandler with lights blazing and sirens blaring!

A few welcoming statements were made by Chief York. He recognized the Henderson County ESD #12 Board of Commissioners and Henderson County Precinct #3 Commissioner Chuck McHam for their investment in keeping our community safe and for purchasing the new Engine.

James Allison was recognized as the oldest living Chandler Volunteer Firefighter and was presented a hat by Chief York.

Community members gathered around the truck, laid hands on the truck while Chaplain David Lloyd prayed over and blessed the new Engine and all those who will respond on it to help a neighbor in need.

Firefighter Tyler Jordan gave a brief history of the push-in ceremony and its ties to the old days of horse-drawn engines and hose wagons.

Members of the ESD Board and Firefighters ceremoniously gave the new engine its first wash down before the Engine was “pushed in” to the bay!

A great time was had by all and we are extremely grateful to Henderson County ESD #12 for their continued support!
