Here is an example of deceptive marketing by a questionable financial organization, it may or may not be fraudulent, but the marketing technique used is of the impersonation method.
RED FLAGS: Notice that the exterior of the envelope is made to closely resemble an official letter from the US government. You will also notice that they have printed on the envelope “Economic Relief For Affected Oklahoma Families”, they have also printed legal statutes in the envelope to make it appear more authentic. The bait is clearly seen through the envelope window, “to the order of” is printed on what appears to be a green check!
On the inside of the envelope you can clear see the continued theme of “government relief” however it is clearly an attempt to get the recipient to apply for a loan.
Always be weary of these types of marketing techniques, they often target senior citizens who may be caught off guard by the deceptive nature of the program. Whether this is a legitimate financial organization or not, it is a good practice to never engage in unsolicited financial activity.
