PUBLIC NOTICE OF A SPECIAL MEETING

Champion Township Board will be holding a special meeting Wednesday, June 17th, at 6:30 p.m., at the Champion Township Firehall. The Board will be appointing an Interim Supervisor and discussing our lawyer and board meetings days at this meeting.

The Clerk will be attending through FaceTime.

Sad news, after a long discussion last night, the Champion Volunteer Fire Department has chosen to cancel this year's Horse Pulls. This decision wasn't easy, we had to look at the overall picture, and due to lack of spectators, cost to put on the event, and other local events that take place on the weekend that we hold the Horse Pulling. This doesn't mean that we are officially done at this time, we are going to look at other options take suggestions, and regroup. We thank everyone that has supported this family oriented event, for the past 60 years, and we hope that everyone understands.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect on Monday for all of Upper Michigan. Burn restrictions are in effect for the entire U.P. Gusty south winds to 30 mph, low relative humidity and temperatures in the mid 70s to mid 80s will result in critical fire weather conditions.

The Michigan State Police has issued an AMBER Alert for the child, Savannah Walker. The suspect is Marcus Hightower. They are traveling in the listed vehicle.

So we are putting things together for another fun year at the Champion Horsepulling things are coming along great. The bands are all set-up for the event beer is ordered. We are going to be doing a two day event again with horse pulls and band on Friday and Tractor Pulls and Fun Run in the Mud with a band to follow.
