Thank you, WCIA 3 News Jordan Baker for covering this important story and for the opportunity to share my perspective on why inclusionary housing is another great option to add to City of Champaign - Municipal Government Housing Needs Analysis and Strategy. I’m excited about the great work ahead and grateful for the support of my colleagues on the City Council.

Our 9-0 vote was a win for our entire community and an important step forward. I’m hopeful we can continue working together—with residents, developers, community organizations, and partners—to build the homes and units we need, while exploring incentives that can support low- to moderate-income affordable housing development. There’s a lot of work ahead, and I’m excited to be part of it!

Excited to see the opening of Bristol Park Phase 2 and am so happy for the residents that are moving in! 🙌🏽🙌🏽

While I wasn’t part of this project, I’m happy to see it come to fruition after nearly 19 years. These 60 new housing units for income qualified residents ages 62+ are a great addition to our community.

Congratulations to everyone who made this happen. Couldn’t be done without great partners and special shout out to the City of Champaign’s Neighborhood Services Director Rob Kowalski and all the amazing staff for their outstanding work! 👏🏽👏🏽❤️

Made the quick drive to Danville on Friday to support mayoral candidate Tricia Teague.

Tricia spoke from the heart, and it’s clear she’s in this race for the right reasons. She’s willing to ask the tough questions, look at the data, and do the work to make Danville better for all.

Exciting news for District 3! I’m encouraged to see new investment and a renewed vision for the Country Fair property. I look forward to seeing this long-awaited revitalization move forward for the benefit of our community.

Champaign Park Apartments is also moving forward. With the ongoing lawsuit potentially nearing resolution, demolition of the property could begin as early as December.

My message today was not only happy 4th of July but Love & Peace. 🫶🏽

It was so good to see everyone out… I haven’t been to the parade in years. Days like this should remind us that our greatest strength comes from the connections we build with one another.

America is far from perfect, and for many of us, the 4th of July carries a different meaning as we reflect on our history and our ongoing pursuit of justice, equality, and opportunity for all.

Today, I choose to celebrate love, peace, democracy, liberty, and the hope that we can continue moving forward together and we can all truly be free.

Wishing you a day filled with unity, joy, and community.

Lowe Lowe Love & Peace BBQ today and Lashaunda Cunningham MLK Jettie Rhodes Neighborhood yesterday were both great events right here in Champaign -Urbana.

Thank you all for the hard work you put in to make these events successful for the community.

No doubt your dedication to serving others was felt throughout the day.
