What's going on at the Stevick Senior Center in June?

Now you can find out from the comfort of your own home by looking at the calendar online.

We have a "live" calendar where you can look at the schedule by month, week, or day. Just click on the event to see the times.

There is also a pretty PDF version. Just click on the little picture of the calendar to open that version. This version is printable. (We've attached a little preview here so you know what to look for.)

As always, call the Stevick Senior Center at 217-359-6500 if you want to check in about events, volunteering, helping with Food for Seniors, or the Cabutti Mitten Tree.

It's a bittersweet day at Family Service. Esther, our Volunteer Services Manager who oversaw Meals on Wheels and Senior Transportation volunteers, has decided to sail off into retirement.

We are happy that Esther is going to be enjoying her days at home with family and friends now, but we are all heartbroken that we won't have her sweet demeanor and fantastic sense of humor to enjoy every day. It's been 10 years and 10 months of diligent, devoted service to the Meals on Wheels and Senior Transportation clients and volunteers, and we're sure we speak for everyone when we say absolutely everyone who got to know Esther will feel the void of her empty chair at Family Service.

Esther has always been a delight. Now, she's a retired delight.

Esther, please come and visit us often. We wish you the sunshine, roses, unicorns, and glitter that doesn't make a mess in your retirement. We miss you already, but we're glad you're finally getting to put your feet up and relax.

Please join us in wishing Esther a fond adieu and in thanking her for the decade+ of professionalism, compassion, humor, and competence that made her so easy to work with.

Family Service has a long legacy of finding, training, and placing senior volunteers in our community in our Family Service Volunteer Program. Adults of all ages are needed for all sorts of tasks, from taking a senior to and from an appointment or errand to delivering Meals on Wheels to office assistance.
