Congratulations to our 2026 George Kieffer Award Recipient: Darren Glosemeyer!

The George Kieffer Award recognizes individuals who go beyond expectations and continue to strengthen the organization through service, leadership, and dedication. Darren’s contributions reflect that spirit through his reliability, generosity, and deep investment in Habitat’s mission and the people it serves.

Darren exemplifies that commitment through his ongoing involvement in construction work, where he is known not only for his skill on site, but for the way he works alongside and encourages fellow volunteers. In addition to his work on build sites, Darren has supported the organization by advancing Habitat’s mission of expanding access to safe, affordable housing.

He generously gives his time, talents, and resources, while also serving as a strong advocate for Habitat throughout the community. Many also know Darren as the face of some of Habitat’s recent video outreach efforts, where his warmth and authenticity helped share the impact of the organization’s work. More than anything, Darren lives the spirit of Habitat through the way he treats people and serves others each day.

🌟 Congratulations, Lavie Maisha-Wema!

We are proud to celebrate Lavie as a recipient of both the North End Scholarship and the Judge Fred Green Memorial Scholarship, two legacies rooted right here in Champaign-Urbana.

The North End Scholarship honors the heart of our African American community, creating pathways to higher education for minority students with deep ties to a neighborhood that has shaped so much of who we are as a region.

The Judge Fred Green Memorial Scholarship carries forward the legacy of a man who served his country, excelled on the court, and dedicated 42 years to justice in our community. A true example of what leadership looks like in every season of life.

Lavie, you carry both of these legacies forward with you. We cannot wait to see everything you will accomplish. 🎓
