City crews and first responders worked through the evening and continue working today responding to severe weather that moved through the area.

Public Works has so far received over 140 calls for service related to storm damage and deployed over two dozen staff members to address reported issues across the community.

Of the calls received, most were related to tree damage, ranging from fallen limbs blocking roadways to entire trees down across streets. Additional calls involved traffic signs and signal issues at various intersections. Crews worked throughout the night to clear debris and reopen roads where possible.

We thank residents for their patience and understanding as cleanup efforts continue after yesterday's storm. We also extend our appreciation to the Public Works Department, Champaign Police Department, City of Champaign Fire Department, and METCAD 9-1-1 - Champaign County, Illinois teams for their dedication and quick response in helping keep our community safe during and after the storm.

City crews and first responders responded overnight to severe storm damage, clearing fallen trees, addressing roadway hazards, and restoring access as cleanup efforts continue across Champaign.
