Champaign Unit 4 Schools

Champaign Unit 4 Schools Welcome to the Champaign Unit 4 Schools page! Here we will share updates, breaking news, and photos from our community schools.

ABOUT:
Champaign Community Unit School District #4 is located in Champaign County in east central Illinois. Students residing within the City of Champaign, the Village of Savoy and the Village of Bondville attend our schools. The District currently educates nearly 10,000 students in Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade and employs over 1,500 administrators, teachers, and support personnel. The Dist

rict has a $102 million operating budget and operates 22 facilities. Community Relations staff will make every effort to respond to questions on our Facebook
page within two business days. However, because our resources are limited and the question may require research, more time may be needed. Your patience is appreciated. You are always welcome to call the District directly at 217-351-3800 with time-sensitive questions. Champaign Unit 4 School District (CUSD #4) welcomes the community’s contributions to our page. However community-contributed content on this page is the opinion of the specific author and does not represent Unit 4 Schools. Champaign Unit 4 schools is not responsible or liable for the content of any separate page related in any way to CUSD #4. CUSD #4 abides by Facebook’s Terms of Service and Community Standards, and the District asks its Facebook fans to do the same. In particular, please do not post unauthorized commercial solicitations (such as SPAM); bully, intimidate, or harass any user; post content that is hateful, threatening, pornographic, or that contains nudity or graphic or gratuitous violence; or do anything unlawful, misleading, malicious, or discriminatory on CUSD #4’s page. CUSD #4 reserves the right, but is not obligated, to block followers/fans or remove their comments on our page that contain commercial solicitations, are factually erroneous or libelous, are clearly off-topic, or that otherwise violate Facebook's Statement of Rights and Responsibilities. The District welcomes a healthy two-way dialogue with the CUSD #4 community. However, personal insults against any individual -- whether the individual is an employee, student, parent, Board member, or other person -- are strictly prohibited. We strongly encourage all comments to be phrased respectfully, factually and constructively. By signing the permission form/media release distributed at registration, a parent or guardian gives permission to have the student’s picture taken by Unit 4 employees or student teachers while involved in a District-sponsored activity and/or to use samples of his/her work. The pictures might be used in form of videos, photographic displays, or pictures in newspapers, magazines or reports or school sponsored Internet sites. The purpose of using the pictures is to help further the cause of better education through awareness. To opt out on behalf of a student, the parent should not sign the permission form/media release.

Unit 4 Shines at CUSchoolsFoundation Kick-Off Breakfast

Champaign Unit 4 Schools was well represented at this week’s CU Schools Foundation Kick-Off Breakfast, where educators and students shared how community partnerships and innovative teaching are making a difference for students.

Centennial Choir Members under the direction of Stefanie Eustice opened the event with a beautiful song.

Daneye Carter and Danielle Mallett of Stratton Academy of the Arts highlighted the impact of their First Grade Exchange grant, which gives young learners the opportunity to build important financial literacy skills.

Katie Flugge and Central High School student Jaydon Sibley shared how the Webber & Thies Adopt a School program connects Central social studies classes with professionals in the legal field. Jaydon spoke about how the experience strengthened his interest in the law and further inspired his dream of one day becoming a judge.

The breakfast also celebrated Kayla Leitschuh, librarian at Franklin STEAM Academy, as the recipient of the Mann-Hankel Teaching Excellence Award. Kayla shared how her work in the school library uses literacy to create a place where every student can see themselves, their experiences and their possibilities reflected in the books they read.

We are proud of these Unit 4 educators and students for representing our District and grateful to the CU Schools Foundation and its community partners for investing in experiences that expand learning and opportunity for our students.
