Today I attended the annual Founder’s Day of Caring Diaper Drive hosted by the United Way of Champaign County in collaboration with Channel 3 (WCIA). This event is essential for gathering much-needed resources for families with young children who are in need in our communities, helping stock up the Bottom Line Diaper Bank. I was happy to stop by the drive to make a diaper donation and participate in the annual diaper change competition. And, I’m proud to say my experience as a father paid off, as I had the fastest diaper-changing time out of all of the competitors (at least at that point)!

On Saturday I had the honor of attending the East Central Illinois Building and Construction Trades Council Pre-Apprenticeship graduation ceremony and speaking to the graduates about their achievements in the program.

This year, the program had 22 graduates — up almost 50% from last year. I’m proud to see this essential workforce program growing.
