Recently, our thrift store managers across Georgia gathered to share ideas and explore new ways to create even better experiences for our shoppers, donors, volunteers, and neighbors.

One of the guiding principles of the Society of SVdP is simple: "No work of charity is foreign to the Society." 🌎

That principle came to mind as we participated in the Atlanta International Night Market in Chamblee this month.

As neighbors from countless cultures, countries, faith traditions, and backgrounds gathered to share food, art, music, and community, we were reminded of the diversity of the people we serve every day across Georgia. 👫 While every story is unique, every person deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.

For nearly 200 years, St. Vincent de Paul has served neighbors in need without regard to race, creed, nationality, faith, or circumstance. 🙏 Events like the Night Market are a beautiful reminder that our differences enrich our communities, while our shared humanity connects us all.

✨ Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth. We were grateful for the opportunity to connect, listen, learn, and celebrate the many cultures and experiences that make our communities stronger.

Because no matter where we come from, we are all neighbors.

🏥 When neighbors are struggling to keep up with rising costs, medical needs are often one of the first things to slip through the cracks.

Across Georgia, seniors, families, and individuals facing financial hardship are forced to make impossible decisions every day: filling a prescription, paying rent, buying groceries, or keeping the lights on.

No one should have to choose between their health and their stability.

🩺 The SVdP Community Pharmacy helps ensure neighbors can access the medications they need without sacrificing other essentials. Last year alone, the pharmacy filled 27,516 prescriptions for neighbors in need across Georgia.

Because healthcare is not a luxury, and what Georgia needs right now is neighbors loving their neighbors. 💙

This Men's Mental Health Month, we're reminded that strength isn't about facing every challenge by yourself. Sometimes, strength is taking the first step toward growth, healing, and support. 🫂

As Troy shared after participating in SVdP's Adult Life Skills program:

"Before this class, I thought being a man meant carrying every burden alone. Through St. Vincent de Paul’s Adult Life Skills program, I learned that real strength comes from asking for help, building healthy habits, and believing in my own future. This journey has helped me grow not just as a provider, but as a person."

📦 The things you no longer need could help change a neighbor's life.

When you donate furniture, clothing, and household items to SVdP, the proceeds help support neighbors across Georgia who are facing difficult choices between food, rent, utilities, healthcare, and other basic needs.

🚛 Have large items to donate? No problem.

Through our partnership with ReSupply, you can schedule a pickup from your home and donate furniture and other qualifying items without loading a car or making a trip across town.

Your old dining table could help keep food on someone else's table. Your gently used furniture could help fund housing support, prescription assistance, and other services that bring Help and Hope to our neighbors. 💙

Before the phones start ringing. Before the pantry opens. Before the first neighbor walks through our doors.

Each morning at 8:50, staff and volunteers at our Chamblee Service Center gather for prayer. 🙏

We pray for the neighbors we will serve that day. We lift up special intentions. We take a moment to remember why we do this work.

The challenges our neighbors face are often heavy. Housing instability. Hunger. Illness. Uncertainty. Beginning the day in prayer helps keep us grounded in compassion and reminds us that every call, every visit, and every conversation is about a person created in God's image.

It's a simple part of our day, but an important one.

As we prepare to open our doors each morning, we ask for the wisdom to serve well and the grace to meet every neighbor with dignity, respect, and love. 💙

Coming home after incarceration is only the beginning. For many returning neighbors, finding stability can feel almost impossible.

Without support, many men returning home face barriers to housing, work, healthcare, community, and healthy routines, increasing the risk of falling back into cycles of instability or re-incarceration.

That’s why SVdP’s IMMERSION re-entry ministry matters.

Our St. Louise de Marillac Conference in Dallas, GA is preparing to launch this ministry to walk alongside recently paroled men across central and north Georgia during one of the most critical periods of re-entry. Through mentorship, phone calls, encouragement, and face-to-face support, Vincentians will help neighbors work toward stability and a fresh start.

This work is rooted in relationship, dignity, and the belief that every person deserves the opportunity to begin again.

Volunteers are currently needed to provide phone-based and face-to-face support, especially during the first 90 days after release, when encouragement, accountability, and human connection can make a meaningful difference.
