🌎CELEBRATING HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH 💛❤

From September 15 through October 15, we celebrate the rich cultures, traditions, history and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities.

Here in Chamblee, our diversity is one the things that makes our community so vibrant. This month, we're proud to recognize the people, families, businesses and traditions that continue to help make Chamblee a welcoming place for everyone.

CHALK WALK POSTPONED

Chalk Art Postponed Due to Weather/ Artist Market – Cancelled

Unfortunately, Mother Nature is not cooperating with us this weekend. Due to the severe rain forecast for the first half of today, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Artist Market portion of Chalk Walk. The Chalk Artist will start later in the day when it clears up.
The Spruill Open Studios will continue inside Spruill as scheduled.

We do apologize for any inconvenience.

As the nation commemorates the 25th anniversary of 9/11, our very own Councilman Paul Stovall shares his reflection on the day that changed our nation forever.

"25 years ago, the world changed. For those of us old enough, we watched the horrific events live on TVs at work or at school. For the first time, we saw a large attack on civilian and military installations on our soil. I remember the helpers and the heroes responding to the fire and crumbling buildings and watching as men and women risked, and gave, their lives to save others. Even after the initial attack, they continued digging in the hope of finding and rescuing any survivors. I remember the fear that day, and then the anger towards whoever caused that tragedy. The following days, there was a sense of unity we felt that I had not known before. The American flag still flew, and the people and the nation did not back down from the challenge. Finally, I remember the immense pressure put on our Government to respond with force…even from usually calmer voices."

"Now, after 25 years, I see the lasting changes in our country and in the entire world. Despite what you might see on your feed, there are so many good people in the world and in our country. Right here in Chamblee, we have people whose families started from somewhere else, but they came here to seek their own version of the American Dream. I encourage us all to get out and meet our neighbors to build friendships so we can prevent future tragedies like 9/11 from occurring again." - Paul Stovall

As the nation commemorates the 25th anniversary of 9/11, our very own Councilman Jimmy Furst shares his reflection on the day that changed our nation forever.

"Everyone remembers where they were on September 11, 2001. I was in my college dorm room, watching events unfold that would forever change our country. What I remember most, though, is how we came together as a nation in the days and weeks that followed. On this 25th anniversary, I choose to remember that unity, the compassion, resilience, and sense of common purpose we showed one another, rather than the hatred behind the attacks."
