L&I and our Pennsylvania Office of Vocational Rehabilitation continue to share The Whole Story, highlighting how OVR supports and strengthens communities across all 67 counties of the Commonwealth.

📍 Columbia County

After losing vision in one eye due to glaucoma, Dr. Gerald Powers turned to OVR’s Bureau of Blindness and Visual Services for rehabilitation, assistive technology, and mobility training that enabled him to continue his work as an IEP mediator. With OVR’s support, the longtime educator and advocate has continued serving Pennsylvanians with disabilities, completing more than 100 mediation cases since receiving services.

We're also highlighting SUNCOM, which has partnered with OVR’s Wilkes-Barre Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation Services since 2022 to provide MY Work summer employment opportunities for 19 students with disabilities. Through the partnership, students gain paid work experience, build valuable job skills while supporting their local communities, and the program continues to expand with additional participants each summer.
