2024 Junior Firefighter Academy

We are proud to announce the annual Junior Firefighter Academy being held July 21st
through July 27th, 2024, at the Franklin County Public Safety Training Center located at 3075
Molly Pitcher Highway, Chambersburg, PA. This year’s academy class is open to junior
firefighters ages 14-17 seeking to expand their knowledge and skills in the delivery of
emergency services, while experiencing challenging and important life lessons in character,
integrity, responsibility, discipline, accountability, teamwork, and leadership.
The tradition of working with a diverse group of participants from various counties and
states remains a goal of the academy. Participants will build upon each other’s skills in daily
exercises, as well as bond with one another on various trips to Franklin County fire stations, and
the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, MD, for an exclusive tour of the facility and to
observe the National Fallen Firefighters and 9/11 Memorials. The academy offers notable guest
speakers, and is conducted by fire service professionals from Franklin County and surrounding
counties, as well as the Washington, D.C. Metro Area.

Two significant events of the week include:

Annual Appreciation Night, Wednesday evening July 24th, 2024 from 1730-2100
hours, featuring a barbeque dinner, formal appreciation presentation with government
officials and participant demonstrations and skills challenge.

Annual Graduation Ceremony, Saturday July 27th, 2024 beginning at 1000 hours,
offering a formal ceremony including certificates of completion and two participant
speeches outlining the week long Academy.

Haven't had the chance to register for the 2023 Franklin County Jr. Fire Academy yet, there is still time. The registration deadline has been extended and still accepting in county and out of county registrations. Spots are filling up so this extension will only go for so long. For more information and the registration link go to fcfca.com/JFAR .

Registration for FCFCA member agencies opens on April 1, 2023 . Registration for other agencies opens on April 16, 2023. Registration will be accepted thru May 1, 2023.

FCFCA member agencies - $375.00 per Cadet

NON FCFCA member agencies - $475.00 per Cadet

Registration process:
-- Register online at www.fcfca.com/JFAR
-- After registration online is complete FCJFA staff will send an email to the Fire Chief/Training Officer for approval
-- FCJFA staff receives confirmation from Fire Chief/Training Officer the Cadet then fills 1 of the 36 seats for the Academy
-- An email of acceptance is sent to the Cadet, Parent & Fire Chief/Training Officer confirming acceptance into the Academy from the FCJFA staff

The Academy will be limited to the first 36 Cadets. A Cadet is not fully registered for a seat until complete registration and approval from Fire Chief/Training Officer is received. A waiting list will be maintained and utilized accordingly.
