America is supposed to be a better place than this.
First it was our Congressman Steve Scalise, now former President Donald Trump.
This is what happens when you regularly engage if not incessantly engage in reckless rhetoric and shameless villification of a person or people; eventually someone will take the demagogue at his, her, or their word.
The Left learned nothing after Scalise's near fatal wounding aside from spinning the unspinnable more disingenuously if not more effectively.
When you call someone a threat to democracy you sow the seed in impressionable people's minds. You become a tangential accomplice.
Democracy doesn't die in darkness; it dies a bit with every false narrative pushed by those with the power to amplify their political m***e.
The public's faith in democracy literally dodged a bullet by mere millimeters.
Do better.
