There are days when we get calls about raccoons in dumpsters. A couple days ago we got a call from someone who had seen a raccoon in a dumpster at Hillside Apartments in New Hartford. Usually all you need to do is place a long board in there and they will climb out. Well this one wasn’t doing that so the lady got worried. We went over to take a look and found the dumpster with the animal laying down sound asleep. It was daytime so no surprise there. Vinnie woke him up with his net, lifted him out and walked a short way over to where there was a lot of things overgrown and released him. He was very much awake and happy to be free again!

We received a call from NHPD about a fox on Commercial Drive in the Sumo parking lot. So we went out there and found this young grey fox. At first I thought maybe it had been hit by a car but there was no blood or injuries to be seen. Shortly after we arrived home with it it began having seizures. That’s when I knew it had distemper. Distemper is a virus and very few animals can survive it. If they do they end up with other issues. The little guy died soon after we got him home.
