The hard work of the groundskeeping crew keeping the Cerro Gordo cemetery gorgeous despite all of the rain and heat on repeat! They are moving to La Place later this week

The cemetery will be removing any flowers in the ground in front or in back of any stone to aid with mowing and weeding. Shepherds hooks should be to the sides of stones. Please remove your loved one’s decor in the ground if you wish to keep them.
ALL glass and ceramic decor will be removed as it has a tendency to break and can lead to an injury to our staff.
Also, please check on your loved one’s stones. We have several stones with loose or fallen pots/vases due to recent storms and winds.
For any questions please reach out to this page or a member of the cemetery board.

Please no digging or planting of any plants in either Cerro Gordo or La Place cemeteries.
This is a rule that has been in place for quite some time and is posted at the entry of the cemetery.
ANY PLANTS FOUND CAN BE REMOVED BY THE CEMETERY STAFF.
Also, please speak to someone before choosing to weed-eat your loved ones area.
We have very diligent and talented groundskeeping men. The recent rains have altered schedules for mowing and trimming but I assure everyone our groundskeepers are taking care of necessary maintenance.

Reposting the cemetery rules for decorating as we get closer to Mother’s Day and Memorial Day. These rules apply to both Cerro Gordo and La Place township cemeteries. Also if you choose to place a saddle on your loved one’s stone please add a name to the bottom of the foam. This helps a saddle be returned to the correct stone should the wind dislodge the decoration

We have started clearing flowers in preparation for the coming spring mowing season. There are a handful of stones who have had pots fall during the winter-please check on your loved one’s stones.
Huge thanks to the students (Jack, Lydia, and Rylan) for all of their volunteer work today-such an amazing help!!!!

The cemetery recently had a memorial stone damaged due to being backed into by a vehicle. With the snow fall this winter the roads in the cemetery can be difficult to navigate as the cemetery is plowed only when we have services planned. We understand that accidents may happen but please take caution when traveling in the cemetery and should an accident happen please contact a member of the cemetery board or this social media page.

With the high winds flowers have been blown off of several stones. Please check your loved one’s stones for any missing flower arrangements.

A dog leash was found in the cemetery. The leash has been locked in the shed for safe keeping. Please contact a cemetery board member to claim.
