Get Up 8 Foundation Fall Down 7 Times, Get Up 8. GU8 was formed to provide aid to individuals, families and groups in our community who have fallen on hard times.

Everybody without exception struggles in life at times. There is not a person on this planet that can make it by themselves. We may feel alone with our problems, unable to discuss them with our friends or family because they seem too busy and we do not want to burden them. However, it is normal to have problems, need help and to find things difficult. Ignoring the truth can be worse. Get Up 8 Foun

dation was formed by a small group of friends who believe in the importance of a strong, well-supported community. We are putting into place fund development opportunities to aid individuals, families and groups in our community who have fallen on hard times and need assistance to overcome their challenges. This is a foundation about helping people bounce back from struggles that life has thrown in their path. The Get Up 8 Foundation is also a movement to help people reach a higher level of awareness and consciousness to give back to their community. All Get Up 8 Board of Directors and staff are volunteers. No salaries or retribution is paid in working for the organization.

Two years ago, The Get Up 8 Foundation learned about a boy named Drake fighting one of the most heinous cancers, DIPG. As we learned more about the disease and about Drake and his family, we heard the call to act. None of us could have known that a 7 year old boy could teach us so much about strength and grace, about big bright smiles, and about cherishing your loved ones every single day. Drake lives on through these lessons and forever in our hearts. RIP Drake Walker-

Hello Get Up 8 friends. We hope you are all well in this unique time. Based on current guidance and out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to suspend the 7th annual Jamie Pajo Outrigger Race. The safety of our participants and supporters always comes first. Once the COVID-19 threat has subsided, we will work with our partners to possibly reschedule. As this public health threat stretches, we will again assess and make decisions. The COVID-19 situation remains uncertain and our goal is to respond in a way that best meets the health and safety needs of those participating and supporting. We will follow Federal, State and Local recommendations on COVID-19. We are grateful for the dedication and appreciate the sacrifices you make to support our event. The event will be back.

Every day, more people are diagnosed with COVID-19, and they’re more vulnerable than ever right now. The need to support our community continues, and so will the work of Get Up 8 Foundation. We stand together even when we’re apart. Your efforts have made an impact on many people, and we’re looking forward to continuing the conversation on ways to support during this time. Hello Get Up 8 friends. The care of each of you and that of our community is why Get Up 8 was created. In previous weeks and days, we have seen a whirlwind of news regarding COVID-19/coronavirus. We are hearing not only about the spread of the virus but also the difficulties people are having trying to stay uninfected. We are seeing difficulties in purchasing supplies such as toilet paper and water. We are hearing of businesses temporary closing which in some cases are leaving employees without a paycheck. Get Up 8 wants to follow up to see if you or people you know need immediate support during this time.
