The new playground at Cade Lake County Park & Campground is officially open! The combination of a funding grant and Park Staff labor allowed us to construct this great addition to the parks system. If you haven’t been to Cade Lake in a while, come check it out!

Rawson's King Mill and Feek Preserve in Leonidas, MI are closed due to downed powerlines and trees.

Plumb Lake County Park in Sturgis, MI will be closed today Monday, April 20, 2026 for a controlled burn/prescribed fire of the prairie.

For those of you wondering what a controlled burn/prescribed fire is: They are planned, low-intensity fires used to reduce hazardous fuels, manage ecosystems, and prevent catastrophic wildfires. Conducted by trained professionals under specific weather conditions, they remove brush, reduce insect outbreaks, and stimulate native plant growth. These burns, often used in spring or fall, can decrease wildfire severity by roughly 16%.
