Here’s some important information from the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office - Emergency Management on staying safe this week.

☀️ EXTREME HEAT IS EXPECTED THIS WEEK ☀️

High temperatures and humidity can become dangerous very quickly. Please take a few simple steps to protect yourself and those around you.

• Drink plenty of water, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
• Limit time outdoors, especially during the hottest part of the day.
• Stay in air-conditioned buildings whenever possible.
• Check on older adults, young children, neighbors, and anyone who may need assistance.
• Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle—not even for a few minutes.

If you need a place to cool off, St. Joseph County has several cooling centers available. Please see the attached graphic for locations and hours. Keep in mind that some locations may have holiday closures or adjusted hours, so call ahead if you have questions.

Let’s look out for one another and stay safe during this heat wave.
