“Kids are too young to learn about money.”

The truth is, children begin making money decisions much earlier than we realize.

Should I spend my birthday money now or save it?

Do I really want this item, or should I wait for something more important?

How do I decide whether something is worth the price?

Those are real financial decisions.

Financial literacy does not have to feel complicated or boring. It can be fun, interactive, and connected to everyday life.

That is why I created Money Explorers: Your First Adventure.

During this two hour workshop, children will earn a pretend paycheck, make money decisions, participate in hands on activities, and learn practical concepts they can use as they grow.

NOVA BPW Club is proud to honor the legacy of Lutie Lewis Coates — a trailblazing educator who taught Black children during the era of segregation at the Floris “Colored” School in Fairfax County, Virginia. Her dedication left an indelible mark on the community, and today her name graces Lutie Lewis Coates Elementary School, which opened in 2009.

We are deeply moved by the words of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Sheila Coates: “She died way too young but left an incredible mark for others. She would be so proud.”

NOVA BPW Club is honored to embrace this legacy and carry it forward. Because when women lead with purpose, history is made. 💜
