🥁Queen Anne’s County Public Schools is proud to recognize Kent Island High School’s Emily Schaefer (Class of 2027) and Kearsyn Spiegel (Class of 2025) for earning performance positions with the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps, one of the nation’s premier marching music organizations!
Emily will perform on baritone, while Kearsyn will march mellophone during the 2026 season. Founded in 1974, the Crossmen are a member of Drum Corps International (DCI), the world’s leading organization for junior drum and bugle corps, known for combining elite musicianship, athletic precision, and innovative performance.
The students are currently participating in Spring Training at Bethel College in Kansas before embarking on an 80-day national tour that will take them to performances in stadiums across 15 states. The season concludes with championship events at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis beginning August 6.
Their achievement is especially meaningful within the Kent Island music community. Kimberly Scully, band director at Kent Island High School, served as a mellophone technician for the Crossmen during the 2025 season. Her husband, Alec Scully, marched with the corps in 2017 and returned for its 50th anniversary performance in 2024.
“I am incredibly proud of Emily and Kearsyn and the dedication they have shown to reach this level,” said Scully. “Their hard work, discipline, and passion for excellence have truly paid off, and seeing them achieve their dream of performing at the highest level of the marching arts is incredibly rewarding.”
Congratulations to Emily and Kearsyn on this outstanding accomplishment and for representing Queen Anne’s County Public Schools on the national stage.🥳
